Jasmine Star workshop: Part Deux

So for the shoot part of the workshop Jasmine showed us how she works with clients and gets those incredible shots. I was kinda nervous for the shoot because I am just weird like that. I don't know what my problem is sometimes. The night before we got together and did headshots of each other on the beach and I didn't really shoot. I notice I do this here too at photographer GTG......... I clam up......... I need to stop it! But I finally got in there and started shooting and got some decent stuff. I was lucky and got a few direct looks into the camera shots too! And it was HOT! Don't let California fool you. Poor guy was in a jacket! But he rocked it! He had the sweetest style. And he and his wife......(yes people they are a real life couple!).......were the cutest couple ever!

Location: The Club at Woodbury- so pretty, want to live there
Models: Melinda and Vern- stunning, stylish, artsy, madly in love
Floral: Carissa of JL Events & Design- perfection
Beauty/Hair: Vivian Tran-All Made Up Team- amazing, sweet, artist
Dress: Monique Lhuillier-haute
I could have photographed Melinda all day. She is absolutely breathtaking! Her eyes were doe-like it made her innocently captivating...........
Now let me tell you a little something about a woman named Vivian. She is a master! She can DO hair! When I do hair I throw in a Bump-it and call it a day. Hahaha. This lady sculpts masterpieces out of keratin. Seriously look at that hair! Mad-skillz that Viv!
I love this dress. It fits her body like skin. Delish. And love the uniqueness of the bouquet.

Jasmine's Mom and JD of course were there helping with the food, technical things, and just making sure Jasmine and us were taken care of. Mom must be so proud. She has an awesome daughter. And JD is the sweetest guy ever. Always taking care of his lady. You could just tell he was happy helping her. It was funny because at dinner someone asked him what his and Jasmine's work day is like. He replies scheduled. I joked and said he was a Babywise Husband. He looked at me with the cutest innocent blank face and me and another photographer who is with child just busted up laughing. Don't we all wish we had Babywise Husbands?? Geesh Jasmine's got it all =).
I had the best time at her workshop. Now I just want to just keep going to workshops. I think I am going to be a workshop groupie. Thanks you Jasmine, JD, and Momma Star for everything!

Miss C {Scottsdale Boudoir photographer}

Disclaimer: Please close browser if you are uncomfortable with partial nudity. Model has given permission to publish for marketing purposes. If you choose to schedule a boudoir you may or may not opt to allow me to publish. However most likely you will FEEL like the DAbomb.com and will want to show the world! Beauty is inside and will shine through on the outside everytime!

This was my first attempt at Boudoir and I absolutely LOVE it! This is right up my alley with me being able to do all aspects of the shoot, from hair, makeup, and photography. My days in front of the camera also helped tremedously with posing and making her feel comfortable as well as sexy. She was so funny because even though she is absolutely STUNNING, she was Miss Stiffy!! I had to help her relax a little and tell her what to do with her hands, eyes, and face. She laughed and said she could never be a model because it would take them forever to get the shot! I think she did phenomonal! I am so happy with these images! Boudoir can be anything you want it to be. Flirty or sensual. Classic or themed. It is whatever makes you feel fabulous! Leave everything up to me, literally! Boudoir sessions make a great gift for your guys. Heck, who says you need a guy? Do a session for you!! There are so many AH-mazing shots so make sure you check out the slideshow!

Serendipity Videography Girls {Gilbert Hair/makeup artist}

T, it's T. Can you make me fabulous?

Over the years I have become Taryn's, owner of Serendipity Videography, personal stylist! The first time I did her hair and makeup for an event was about 3 years ago for a wedding. She was a bridesmaid and I did all of the bridesmaids hair and makeup. I think Taryn used pictures from that wedding on everything that year! I looked HOT! And if any of you know Taryn, you can totally hear her right now........right? She cracks me up! So anytime now when she gets her picture taken she rings me up! And I love it. Taryn is a beauty with or without me and I am just happy that I make her feel as good as she looks.

This time Sergio photographer from Tucson was shooting their whole Serendipity Team with their camera equipment. And I can't wait to see the photos! I got to style her sister this time too. Both are stunning, but negatives of each other! Taryn is super blonde and snowy pale skin, and her sister is dark with olive tan skin! Here are some quick photos I took before they left.......

Glendy Family

I was so fortunate to shoot this family last minute. Mom owns a FABULOUS boutique store, From Heaven, on the first floor of Signature Salon Studios in Gilbert. It is an awesome little diamond in the rough. She has everything from purses, clothes, jewelry, and glasses. She had a need to get Christmas pictures done and I had a need to shop! So we did a trade and we all were happy! I got some great items. That is what I love about her store because it is affordable and chic. I always get so many compliments when I wear anything from her store and the best thing is she has 5 or 10 of something and that's it. So everyone doesn't have my same shirt! However is you really love it she can special order :). And mom, I want credit for discovering your son when he gets signed to a modeling agency! Look at those eyes, skin, and lips! Adorable!

It was funny when mom gave me their xmas card this year. Of all the pics I took, she chose one of them not smiling! When I asked her she laughed and said "you didn't know we were the mafia"? I even remember the shoot letting them know I was ready to take the picture and they weren't smiling. So I had to ask her "do you just not smile?" She laughed again, and told me I had to make them laugh! So I put my jazz hands on and tapped danced around and this was all I could get!

Thank you Glendy Family for my new clothes and for the fabulous shots! I might be back to get that little zebra jacket for New Year's! CLICK HERE for their slideshow

Rendahl Family

So I am behind on blogging and I just started blogging. Could I be more unorganized? But really it is because I was working before my site was up, so I have to get all those families up! So I might be working backwards and posting the recent sessions so they can get their sneak peeks, then going back and posting past sessions.........

This is the Rendahl Family. This little boy made me laugh the whole session and then made me smile again looking back at his face the whole time I was editing. He was really cautious about everything. Didn't want to go near the water or be high on a ledge. And super tall! Mom said he was in 5T and he was 3! But seriously look at his little face! Love him!

Love his smile! Such personality!

Mom did a great job with wardrobe choice. I love the blues and the scarf! So this is what I know about wardrobe from my modeling days when I would go for headshots and test shots. Mom had asked me about wearing black. And personally I don't prefer black. Or white, unless it is a wedding of course. White is better than black though. The best colors for photos are solid colors. If you are going to go with a prints, do something simple and not too busy. The little boy's simple stripes are perfect. The reason I don't prefer black is because I feel it is too dark. Unless you have a vibrantly colored setting it doesn't really stand out. And when processed in black and white or sepia tones there is too much contrast. With other colors the contrast is more subtle and will still show up as a "color", even in a black and white photo. NOW, this is totally MY personal opinion. If you feel comfortable wearing black by all means do so, because the most important thing when taking photos is to feel comfortable, who cares what the picture lady says! And if the setting is super lush and green or you are up against a red brick wall or something, it would look awesome. But sometimes you get dead winter grass :( So if you want to wear black just think about other darker colors too such as brown, navy, or gray (like this dad). Here is one in black in white. See how his dark shirt isn't so harsh, unlike the black stripe on the boys sweater.
Thank you Rendahl Family for working with me and letting me meet your little (big) man! Click here to see their slideshow!

How cool is this?!?!

I know this is a photography blog and I have yet to post about photography! But I have to about this! Okay so I haven't been shopping in forever. Everything I buy now is for the business. So I have been itching to go shopping so bad! I recently did a trade for my friend who has a small boutique and was able to get some great items. But more on her and her store when I post her family session! .........Anyway, so my husband, the kids, and I head to the outdoor mall to play and walk around, and enjoy the weather. We go to Forever21 which is a fun store with lots of the trendy clothes for cheap. I have lost a few pounds and want to rock the skinny jeans now while I can before my booty comes back after the holidays! All the new rage I guess is colored jeans. So I thought I would give it a whirl. I tried some crazy blue ones. Though I love 80's music and 80's movies, I am not too sure I want to revisit the fashion of the 80's which seems to be making its way back. But the colored jeans were actually fun. I thought with black heels and a classy black top it would be good. But then I wanted to get a soft T to wear with them to dress them down. So I look through all the Ts and they are all bright vintage 80's type T's. My 4 year old picked out a T with Mickey mouse on it. Not what I was looking for. Wanted it more neutral with some color to match the jeans but not make me look like I was at a Jonas Brother's concert. And I see this T that was gray with a little blue and had ....................

If you have visited my website and read my bio, this just makes me believe that all this is a sign that I have found what I am supposed to be doing! How awesome is it that I found this shirt! I love it! Here it is paired with the jeans.........

And these jeans are fun with heels!

So I know this isn't a fashion blog but I had to post! But since I am a hairstylist too don't be surprised if I give some fashion or styling tidbits which definately can be useful for photoshoots!
