Lucky Dog

Wrinkled like an old man. Tongue hanging what it seems like only a few inches from the ground. Sh*t eating grin from ear to ear. Wearing leather and wrapped in a feather boa. This is the LOVE-A-BULL annual beauty pageant! All you dog lovers will love this post :)

One of my friends runs the English Bull dog rescue here in Phoenix. Every year they hold a pageant where you can enter your bulldog into various catergories (like biggest head, longest tongue, best trick) and strut your stuff around. And believe me these little guys know just what to do! The pageant was held at Appleby Kennels in Chandler and Dr. Cindy Junger was the judge and the trusted vet of many of the attending bullies. I was amazed at how many people came out and how many bulldogs there were! I am guessing over 100 or so. Some were so quirky looking that it made them cute! Almost like hollywood child stars (you know like that little girl on all those Pepsi commercials in the 90s, or cousin Oliver from Brady Bunch) . And I thought moms were crazy with the props and wardrobe changes for kid shoots. You should see these "mommies" AND "daddies"! Love it! News Channel 3 was there to capture some of the fun too. The thing I loved the most about shooting this breed is they don't run. They are pretty stationary so you can get any shot you want! And they are literally SMILING at you! I had a blast shooting this. I can't wait til next year to bring my kids!

This is one of my favorite pics I got. This is my friend Karen and Double. He didn't want to do his trick, which was pushing a Staples easy button, but instead was hammin' it for the crowd!

Maybe we could have won the SuperBowl if we had this burley guy on our defense.......

Are you serious? Look at the way he is looking at me! This cool cat had his own special VIP wagon! He was so cool he didn't even have to walk around!!

If you have a Bulldog and interested in the Meet up group or if you are interested in adopting one of the rescue bullies you can contact Karen Farrish.

Great photos, even if they are of mean-looking dogs! The one with the Cardinals jersey is almost as cute as Matt Leinart (not). Love the little boy hugging his dog. And princess pup...really cute.

I loved the video. Now I really hate that I missed it so my bully Tonka could be part of the video. I love to mess around with my movie maker and make videos of my bully. I scrapbook her all the time. I like to antique the pictures also. I like how you angled the pictures I will have to try that sometime. Thanks for the tips. Barbara
